March 11, 2017 Corey has been a delight to work with. Caroline feels so encouraged and exhilarated during and after their lessons. Corey told Caroline about the Schmidt Vocal Competition. Caroline participated and was selected as a finalist! The regional Schmidt Vocal Competition happened today at the UNC School of the Arts. In addition to receiving a $250 award for being chosen as a finalist, Caroline was given the “Broadway Bound” Encouragement Award. Caroline’s favorite part of the day was being able to sit in on a Master Class with Cindy Oxberry, Nic Muni and Rosemary Freni. She is pictured below with members of the Schmidt family after the awards were announced. Next weekend, Corey and Caroline travel to the NATS Regionals at UNC. Caroline will participate in both the classical and musical theatre categories. After today’s competition, which had incredibly talented high schoolers, Caroline is even more excited about regionals. We are so thankful to Corey and to you, Jeff & Carol Anne, for all you have done to instruct, encourage and support Caroline. Hickory Arts is making such a difference in this girl’s life, allowing her to grow in confidence and ability while still enjoying every minute of the learning process. We appreciate you. I worked with Caroline in West Side Story in 2016 and what a delightful young lady she is! She is a consummate professional who is very focused on her passion for performing, yet at the same time always has time for others. She represents herself and her family very well.
