Kurts & Phelps House Concert

Please join us on Thursday, August 6th for the next in this year’s series of Hickory Arts house concerts featuring Jimmy Kurts with Madison Phelps accompanied by Brad Bailey, Forrest Brown and Jeff Hartman. Tickets (“donations,” if you prefer) are $20 and can be purchased online or at Hickory Arts. Please call ahead as we are appointment only. Only 40 seats available. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Doors open at 7:30 pm for an eat & greet with the artists. Performance begins at 8 pm. Jimmy Kurts has been taking voice lessons at Hickory Arts for a little over a year, now. He is very involved in local arts efforts such as community theatre, dance and music. His last appearance on stage was as Donkey in “Shrek the Musical” for Caldwell County Schools. He will be attending Western Carolina as a freshman this fall to pursue a BFA in Acting. Jimmy would like to thank Jeff for all of the countless hours he has invested in him as an artist and a person. Madison Phelps is a 15-year-old, rising sophomore at Saint Stephens High School. She has always had a passion for singing and has been playing guitar and songwriting for seven years. Along with her passion for singing, Madison also has a passion for animals. She has participated in two interns at The Humane Society and hopes to intern at a veterinarian office her last two years of high school. Madison wants to pursue her dream in attending North Carolina State University’s Veterinary Program once she graduates high school. Hickory Arts House Concerts are very intimate. Volunteers to provide food (“pot luck,” if you prefer) for the performer(s) and guests is strongly encouraged. All proceeds always go directly to the artist(s). No membership or personal invitation required. *Additional donations to the artists are encouraged. Hickory Arts is the “un-studio”—a simple, custom, specialized, non-event-driven teaching & production studio dedicated to coaching performance artists from point A to point B. The studio is located at 720 Second Avenue SW, Hickory 28602 behind ITP and across from Hickory Optimist Park (where you’ll also find additional parking).
