Bethlehem Branch Library will run "Climbing Skyward" by Carol Anne Hartman Photography from June 7-26 as part of their Exhibiting Artist Series. An opening reception will kick things off from 5:30 pm this Thursday, June 7th. Admission is FREE. The library is located at 45 Rink Dam Road, Hickory, NC and has been serving the Bethlehem community since 2006. They offer access to information and programs for all ages. After happening upon her mother’s college film camera, her father set up a dark room in an unused closet and taught her how to capture and develop her own images. Seeing her images come to life before her eyes created a lifelong desire to capture just about everything. The fire was stoked in high school as she became involved in the AV club, adding videography to her repertoire. Today, Carol Anne has spent more than twenty years watching life through a lens. She provides headshots and portraits as well as commercial work, both film and still, through her business. She has watched her three boys turn into three young men through those same lenses and spent 18 years married to her best friend. With them and all of the furry critters that they share their home with, she continues to try to capture the beauty she finds around her. Hartman's work has been featured on TLC BBC, Walmart commercials, the YMCA, Hickory Arts, Hickory Theatre, Hickory Ballet Academy and more. "For me, art is beauty. As a graphic designer, I get to find the beauty in small businesses and use that to tell the world about them. As a photographer, of course, I’m finding the beauty in my subject. As a filmmaker, the beauty is in the motion. As a singer and actress, I have the privilege, if only for a moment, to live the beauty.
