Nick Bottom

You will not make an ass of me. Nick to Shakespeare, Something Rotten!

Nick Bottom, played by Scott Hudson, is Nigel’s brother and the leader of the acting troupe. He’s driven by success, but above all, his ability to support his most loved ones. That pursuit leads him down a rabbit hole of trying to outwrite and outperform his arch-nemesis, Shakespeare.

The Bottom brothers are named after the character Bottom in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, who provides comic relief throughout the play. A weaver by trade, he is famously known for getting his head transformed into that of a donkey by the elusive Puck.

Scott Hudson was last seen on stage in Newsies at Hickory Theatre. Scott is thrilled to be back in one of his all-time favorite shows. When not on stage, he “makes the admittedly questionable decision to practice law for a living.” While his character may clearly, surely, really, truly hate Shakespeare (and will tell you about it ad nauseam), he is actually quite the fan. Hudson has worked with Hickory Arts on Audition Prep for a couple of shows, and we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work he’s put into Something Rotten!
